I cannot believe that it has been so long since our last post! We have been so busy this summer doing tons of fun things. At the beginning of July we took Evie to the fair and I was able to convince Tim to let me take Evie on the ferris wheel (the kiddie one of course). She played a carnival game and won a cheesy prize. She also rode the carousel which she loved! As a kid, my family always went and looked at the animals, so we stopped by the barn and took Evie to see the pigs, cows, chickens, rabbits, and goats. Tim is such a freak about germs, so he refused to let me take her to the petting zoo.
We spent the 4th of July with Tim's family in Point Loma. Evie enjoyed the fireworks and fought going to sleep until after the finale. She had spent most of the day in the pool with her cousin Ella. Evie really is a water baby and just loves being in the pool. Our apartment complex has a nice pool, so we are there a few times a week.
In mid July we drove to the White Mountains in Arizona for a family reunion on my dad's side. The reunion was at a really nice park and happened to have a skate park there too, so Tim was very impressed. Tim did really well in the horseshoe tournament and April and I tore up the dance floor! Evie didn't seem to be feeling very well. She woke up the first two nights screaming and was running a slight fever. On the third night, it was over 104 so we had to rush her to the little ER in town only to find out that she had a double ear infection. She had only had one about 4 weeks prior, so they gave her a shot to clear it up within a few days. After the reunion ended, we were able to spend a day visiting with my grandpa in Mesa. I was able to gather up some costume jewelry of my great-grandma's for Evie to play dress-up with in a few years and took a picture of her in some clip-on earrings.
My mom came back from Arizona with us and stayed a little over a week. We all really enjoyed having her visit and Evie got to do quite a bit, including a trip to Balboa Park. I was really confused about the whole solid food thing with Evie and my mom totally helped me out with that. It was just wonderful to visit with her and have Evie be able to spend some much needed time with her only grandma.
While my mom was visiting, Evie also received a package from my dad which included a DVD of him reading her two books and the two books so she can follow along as he reads. She has a short attention span right now, but enjoyed it for a short time. Thanks Chief!
Evie is just getting so big and developing so much. She just turned 9 months old and we are starting the countdown to her first birthday! She started at a new day care and has been learning a lot. She has painted and her artwork hangs there on the wall. She is starting to crawl like a wounded soldier and get in to a lot more than she ever could before. Her third tooth came in, which may have had something to do with the ear infections. She likes fruit okay but really loves veggies. She is such a sweet girl and everyday Tim and I pinch ourselves with how blessed we are to have her in our home.
